In the artist’s own words: “Adios Columbus” is my response to the celebration of 500 years of colonialism. This steel sculpture manifests the grip of the conquest on the Americas. The blue represents the beauty of the seas and the circle of yellow the warmth of the sun that remains a constant and joyful experience living on these continents. – Regina Araujo Corritore, 2006
Positioned outside the Town of Prescott Valley Civic Center, this mixed media sculpture juxtaposes the dark history of colonialism with the pervasive beauty of the natural world.
