In 2019, a Call to Artists was released across Yavapai County in search for a new sculpture to be installed on the plaza below the Theater on the Green. Among the submissions, Blue as the Sky was chosen. This piece of the Art at the Center Collection created by Gene Galazan is a large abstract sculpture with tall poles that reach high into the sky, poles so blue they rightfully claim the name “Blue as the Sky.” Gene creates his work at his residence in Prescott, AZ with found treasures in junk yards and scrap piles. He creates his large sculptures by welding, hammering, and piecing items together, allowing the sculptural design to emerge.
