This friendly sculpture is a perfect addition to the children’s section of the library. Douglas is staring at his namesake dragonfly in one hand, while holding the world in the other. As dragonflies represent new beginnings, perhaps Douglas is considering this for the world. The artist wanted to see and touch the dragon of her mind. Although the concept dragons were small, as she worked on Douglas he kept getting larger. She finally gave in and created Douglas the way he wanted to be. Douglas steals viewers’ hearts and delights their imagination daily.
