Prior to 1994, the Town of Prescott Valley did not have a wastewater collection or treatment system. Each of the existing 6,000 homes at that time were served by individual septic tanks. Now most of the homes in Prescott Valley are connected to the Town's wastewater collection system which has approximately 280 miles of underground pipes and 9 pumping stations. Water from the Town's 19,442 customers enters these pipes and flows to the wastewater treatment plant.
The Town's wastewater treatment plant cleans approximately 2.5 million gallons of wastewater every day. This plant was originally constructed in 1993 and was expanded to a capacity of 3.75 million gallons per day in 2007.
