The Prescott Valley Police Department is excited to announce its summer 2023 Youth Academy “Believe in something Better” to be held from Monday, June 26 to Friday, June 30, 2023.
The program runs from Monday to Friday, with classes running from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm each day. The program is held at the Prescott Valley Police Department training room. Academy size is limited to fifteen students aged 14 to 18 years of age and who are attending school within the town limits of Prescott Valley. This program is being offered free of charge to these students.
Each attendee is provided with a t-shirt (uniform) and a binder at the beginning of the program. Lunch and snacks are provided each day. At the conclusion of the program, each participant is provided a certificate of completion at a "graduation" ceremony, where the whole family is invited to watch. Refreshments are served at this special event.
We want our community’s youth to see what it means to be a police officer, to live a life of sacrifice and service to a community, and see how rewarding and fulfilling this life can be. We have arranged specialized trainers, who are experts in their fields, to come and share their knowledge and experience. We have many planned surprises for attendees as they become part of a select group to get a “peek behind the curtain” at the leadership and ethics involved in this profession. Our attendees will leave the academy certified in first aid.
All applications will go through a screening process for criminal history. Those students accepted to the July academy will be notified with a letter of acceptance prior to the academy start date. Any questions regarding this program should be directed to CPO Jodi Mullins at 928-772-5164 or jmullins@prescottvalley-az.gov.
