Prescott Valley Police Department will host its annual Youth Police Academy program “Together We Make a Difference” from 8:30 to 3 p.m., June 26 – 30, 2023. The five-day program will be at the PV Police Station, 7601 E Skoog Blvd. The program is open to local youth aged 14-18 years old, who live or attend school in Prescott Valley. The free class is limited to 15 students. Lunch and snacks are provided each day. The program concludes with a graduation ceremony, which parents can attend.
The Youth Police Academy, now in its fifth year, is the only program of its kind in the Quad Cities area. Attendees will learn about the Prescott Valley Police Department, and what life as a police officer is like. They also will receive firearm simulation training, CPR certification, experience what it’s like to operate a pedal kart “under the influence” using goggles to simulate different levels of “intoxication,” meet the PVPD K9 Officers, and more. Expert instructors will come from Homeland Security, the Arizona Attorney General’s Office, and the Better Business Bureau, among others.
Applications for the program are available online at https://pv-azgov.info/PDYouthAcademy and are also available in the police station lobby. Those accepted into the program will be notified by June 12.
